Bo makes the rounds at Tin Pan South

There’s a reason a blogger called Bo “ubiquitous” during the Tin Pan South songwriter’s festival in Nashville last week – he was! He had his own three-hour round with Greg Crowe, Daryl Burgess, and AJ Masters early on. Then Bo popped up at shows all over town, and got invited up for a song or two at a lot of them.

Here’s a video of Bo joining the Ides of March on Vehicle (and this one has sound all the way through). Check out those moves!

Bo was feeling it, and so was Jim Peterik -

Jim introduced his next guest who would help them do “Vehicle.”

“You always hope that when you say, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen….’ that they will walk on stage since I hadn’t seen the next guy before the show. But I said, ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, Bo Bice!’ and Bo walked right on out.

“Bo was great. Humble, powerful – we hadn’t even discussed who would sing what in the song, but I quickly said that I’d take the first verse, he’d take the second, and then we’d split up the rest. He said, ‘Whatever, man,’ and we ended up looking at each other and pointing when it was the other guy’s turn. It was great! We just brought down the house,” said Jim.

One night alone he sang Brown Skinned Girl with Jamie Houston (no, guys, I don’t remember the lyrics to that one either)…

… joined Jim Peterik again for a medley of Ides of March hits…

… and then wrapped it up with a guest spot with Greg Barnhill. The two of them performed their song Lonely, Broke, and Wasted, which was a fairly apt description of Bo’s voice at that point.

The ragged edges actually add an interesting twist to the song. And in the end, he worked it out.

What a week! I bet Bo’s still walking on air.

If Bo is at Tin Pan next year, I’m really going to have to go. It looked like such a wonderful, intimate time with all of the artists and Bo looked so happy to be there.
