Bo Bice who just played the Opry for the fourth time in the last year is in the studio working on a country record. This is the first time ever that he’s made a full blown country record that will be worked at country radio.

He will be appearing in a documentary about the historic Nashville flood that includes Charlie Daniels and Lee Ann Rimes, and he is wrapping up shooting for a new reality show, Demented Cycles (Orange County Choppers meets Nashville) with Montgomery Gentry.

I kind of thought 3 was Bo’s first country album. But whatever – it does sound like he’s got a lot going on, and it’s only January. I’m eager to see how all these projects shake out. In the meantime, he’s a video of that Everything performance that I can embed. I think I enjoy hearing Bo’s voice bouncing off the studio walls even more than the mic’d up verison.

Bo Bice performed a new song called Everything on Nashville TV station Fox17’s Tennessee Mornings Tuesday. Bo, who lives in Nashville, is working on a country album there. He’s also going to be featured in an upcoming documentary about the 2010 Nashville flood and a new reality series called Demented Cycles.

Bo sure got his hands dirty for flood relief, helping out his neighbors, volunteering for cleanup efforts and at food banks, performing in numerous benefits, donating song proceeds, and even winning $50K for MusiCares Nashville Flood Relief on Don’t Forget The Lyrics. I can’t think of anyone more suited to appear in a documentary about the event and its aftermath.

Brian will also be featured in the new Demented Cycles TV show along with other celebrities such as country music artist Stoney Larue & Hedi Newfield. The TV show is a reality based series that shows the build process of each celebrity’s bike.

A few weeks ago, Bo donated his time and talent to help raise money for the cause near his home in Tennessee:

We are proud to announce that thirteen year old Kevin Frye will once again be taking a check for $10,000 to the 2011 MDA Labor Day Telethon in Nashville, Sunday, September 4. Proceeds are from the recent MDA Day/Music By The Lake Event held on August 20 in Winchester, Tennessee.

Recording Artist Bo Bice returned to the area to assist Kevin with his fund-raising efforts. Bice held a benefit show on August 19 and served as the honorary chairperson for the RIDE4MDA Poker Run on August 20.

This is Bo’s second year participating in the event. Kevin, who battles MD, has been the driving force behind raising funds and awareness for MD in Franklin County. He is very involved in the yearly event which is organized by the Franklin County Kiwanis Club. “I am very happy my friends Bo Bice and Stephen Salyers could come back and help this year, ” Kevin stated, “They are really nice guys.”

Bo has also performed twice on the national MDA Telethon broadcast. Remember these?

Bo’s confirmed that he’ll be at the American Idol finale in a few weeks -

Bice was recently in Los Angeles on tour and travels there frequently. He said he keeps up with his fellow “Idol” contestants and will be going back for the show’s finale in two weeks.

“I keep up with several of my friends,” Bice said. “Constantine Maroulis and I are extremely close. Everyone had us against each other because we were the two rock-and roll guys. I am friends with people on other seasons like Bucky Covington, and Mandisa and I were both in the airport sitting beside each other.

“I keep up with all those folks as much as I can, and I’m proud to be part of the alumni,” Bice continued. “I’m still friends with so many of those who were grips, stagehands, producers — I had every dream answered for me.”

Great news – it’s always good PR for Bo and a lot of fun for us to watch him working the red carpets and media circus. Last year was insane – he was all over the place with interviews and performances. I don’t expect as much face time this year, since he’s not launching an album. On the other hand, reporters do seem to enjoy chatting with him.

I’m hoping Idol will bring all the alums up on stage for a song or a wave in honor of the show’s 10th anniversary. Just please, let them dress themselves this time.

AT&T Idol Celebration: As part of the finale activities, AT&T will host a first-ever free AT&T Idol Celebration – on-site in Los Angeles – just before the final performance show on Tuesday, May 24 (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). The celebration begins at 1 p.m. PT. Former Idol contestants scheduled to perform include: Kimberly Caldwell (Season 2), Diana DeGarmo (Season 3), Bo Bice (Season 4), Ace Young (Season 5), Blake Lewis (Season 6) and Jason Castro (Season 7).

I had the honor of recording and shooting the song “Bonnie Blue Flag” for a PBS Civil War Doc. Special thanks to my friend William Lee Golden and his wife Brenda for including me in it.

I haven’t been able to turn up much about the program, except that it’s called Notes From The Civil War and is set to air on May 16th.

Update: The title of the documentary has been changed to Civil War Songs and Stories.

Jason Toy hosts College Football Country, a weekly program mixing the passion of the game with the rhythms of country music, from 8 to 10 AM Eastern. This week marks the one-year anniversary of the show’s debut and will feature the Southeastern Conference. Scheduled guests include head coaches Houston Nutt from the University of Mississippi and Kentucky’s Joker Phillips; along with MRN broadcaster Eli Gold, also the radio voice of the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide. The country music co-host is Bo Bice.

The show is on the MotorRacing Network, the “voice of NASCAR.” It’s carried on Sirius Radio and a number of country and talk radio stations – check the website for affiliates in your area.
