I posted a link to Bo’s performance on Tennesse Mornings on Monday, but sometime since then the station has added a blurb beneath the video that’s just chock full of tidbits about projects we haven’t heard much about yet:

Bo Bice who just played the Opry for the fourth time in the last year is in the studio working on a country record. This is the first time ever that he’s made a full blown country record that will be worked at country radio.

He will be appearing in a documentary about the historic Nashville flood that includes Charlie Daniels and Lee Ann Rimes, and he is wrapping up shooting for a new reality show, Demented Cycles (Orange County Choppers meets Nashville) with Montgomery Gentry.

I kind of thought 3 was Bo’s first country album. But whatever – it does sound like he’s got a lot going on, and it’s only January. I’m eager to see how all these projects shake out. In the meantime, he’s a video of that Everything performance that I can embed. I think I enjoy hearing Bo’s voice bouncing off the studio walls even more than the mic’d up verison.

These are a return to Bo’s more soulful side, in contrast to the breezy feel of the songs he’s recently added to his concert setlist, Everything and Summertime. I think some fans are going to be reassured to hear them. Bo’s indicated that he’s recorded all 4 songs and hopes to have them on his next album.

I’m going throw up the video of Summertime too. Bootlegs of this one have been floating around for a while, but this is the first time we can understand the lyrics.

Bo’s in Detroit today to sing the National Anthem before the Lions-Panthers football game, and he stopped in at a local tv station for a chat and a song.

Everything

Bo’s added a new song called Everything to his set list lately. We’ve heard it over the phone, we’ve heard it solo acoustic, and now we’ve finally gotten our first full band bootleg of the song. Here it is last night in Decatur, Alabama.

This one’s been a little contentious among the peeps – it’s catchy, it’s current, and it’s radio-friendly. But it’s also poppy, it’s a cover (Billy Currington), and lyrically it just doesn’t sound like Bo. I’m on the fence. It’s not the growly, bluesy sound that Bo does best, and I think he hasn’t really made the song his own. That said, it is a fun little thing, and it has to be good for Bo to push his boundaries now and then. Having the band along makes it a lot more interesting, and I really like the way Bo plays with the dynamics in the last verse. So I guess it’s growing on me.

Bo just finished an amazing live chat with his fans on Justin.tv. I don’t think he’s ever been so open before. He talked about everything from his health and newfound sobriety to his next album to baby names to the newest American Idol. And he sang. He sang as well as I’ve heard him sing. In A Dream, Valley of Angels, Whole Lotta Love…. Wow! If you saw it, go watch it again because I guarantee you’ll hear something new. If you missed it live, you don’t have any idea how much you’re going to enjoy it. Go!

Other than a few favorite performances, I don’t go back and rewatch too many old Bo videos. But every now and then someone finds an old bootleg on her computer or one of the video services recaptures a clip, and they pop up on the top of google. And I find a new favorite.

Here’s a song and interview from the CMA Festival in 2009. They’re both delightful.

Also good to hear – Bo’s website manager passed on some health news in the forum at Bobice.com yesterday. Bo continues to improve and he thanks everyone for the good wishes. Our love and support mean the world to him. Okay, so that’s not really news, but it’s still good to hear.

Just as encouraging, a new concert date in November has just shown up. I don’t know if that’s still in Bo’s plans, but for now it’s nice to look forward to.

One month. Four weeks. Thirty one days.

Telethon time

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is holding its annual Labor Day Telethon tonight. Although it’s been cut down to only 6 hours, and goes on for the first time without Jerry Lewis, all the money raised still helps fight a painful and difficult disease. Please consider giving what you can.

A few weeks ago, Bo donated his time and talent to help raise money for the cause near his home in Tennessee:

We are proud to announce that thirteen year old Kevin Frye will once again be taking a check for $10,000 to the 2011 MDA Labor Day Telethon in Nashville, Sunday, September 4. Proceeds are from the recent MDA Day/Music By The Lake Event held on August 20 in Winchester, Tennessee.

Recording Artist Bo Bice returned to the area to assist Kevin with his fund-raising efforts. Bice held a benefit show on August 19 and served as the honorary chairperson for the RIDE4MDA Poker Run on August 20.

This is Bo’s second year participating in the event. Kevin, who battles MD, has been the driving force behind raising funds and awareness for MD in Franklin County. He is very involved in the yearly event which is organized by the Franklin County Kiwanis Club. “I am very happy my friends Bo Bice and Stephen Salyers could come back and help this year, ” Kevin stated, “They are really nice guys.”

Well done, Kevin and Bo!

Bo has also performed twice on the national MDA Telethon broadcast. Remember these?
