Not Just Another New Year’s Eve
This is going to be a special one, because Thomas Lee is going to be bringing it in, on teevee, in New York City! (altogether now…Get a rope!) Tommy will be playing the keys and maybe sneezing like a swarm of bees with Stephen Cochran and the New Country Outlaws in Times Square. Yes, that Times Square!
Tune in to the FOX News Channel’s New Year’s Eve Special at 11pm tonight and keep your eyes peeled for Tommy. While you wait, you can send text messages to him and the guys at 36288, and some of them will appear on screen. Keep it clean now.
Just for kicks, I looked up the words to Auld Lang Syne, which I always thought went “Hmm mmm mmmm mmmm hmm hmmm hmm hmm, in the days of old ang sign.” My bad. There are a lot of different translations, but any way you sing it, the song is surprisingly quite lovely.
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
And surely I’ll buy mine !
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
Congratulations on the big gig, Thomas our trusty friend. Your music and your blogs and your smiling self have been great fun these last few auld lang synes. Here’s to a lot more cup raising and daisy picking and running about the slopes together next year.

Here’s raising a pint cup of draught to you, Thomas Lee. Good on you and your NYE gig, I’ll be watching for you. Smile pretty now. Wow, how jealous must Sherman be? Uh oh, you’d better watch out when you get home, Tommy.

Good on you Thomas Lee & your swarm of bees! You’ll be getting such energy from the raised pints to ye tonight! Feels like one of my own’s bringing it in in style. I’m grateful for your point of view in my life Swap.
Speaking of gratitude, here’s raising a pint to you too Jenn! You bring such clarity, balance, insight & wry humor. Thank you for enriching my life as well.

What is this Fox News that you speak of?
Crap - this will really be a first.
Congrats Tommy!

Wow. I was almost as far off with these lyrics as I was for the Spin Doctors’ “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong”. For the better part of the 1990’s I thought they were saying “Little miss, little miss, little miss candy roll.”
I think you’ve singlehandedly created the world’s best drinking game, Jenn.
YAY for Tommy! I’ll keep my taters peeled tonight.

I predict that the nation’s cable system may blow out when lulu tunes in to the Fox News Channel. Her remote control will be so confused!

Oh what’s an ‘e’ between friends. He got a plug on the best fan site in the entire US of A, so that’s worth something

Stephen sang great and interviewed well. Interesting stuff about his Marine days. Tommy totally ripped up the keys on his solo, and how nice of Stephen to introduce the whole band on national TV! They were the best group, IMO. Sherman prolly polished off a whole bottle of Crown Royal.

My Tivo rebelled and didn’t record it.

How did that band get a slot in the show at Times Square?

I think you’d have to ask their manager that question. No one filled us in on the details
