Revisionist Idol Part 2
Regular readers will know that Ken Barnes of USA today has been running “Revisionist Idol” polls, in which he has readers vote on each season of Idol and either confirm the winner or crown a new one. Recently Bo’s fans crowned him the Revisionist idol of season 4, meaning that Carrie Underwood actually lost. Pause and let that sink in, people. Carrie Underwood LOST. I think that might be the one and only time Carrie lost anything in her entire life.
Which just shows you how fabulous we are!
Are these things meaningless? Yes and No. Of course they don’t change reality, but our voting earned a write-up for Bo and his new CD last time.
Well now, Ken is running the Ultimate Revisionist Idol poll and the winner gets publicity in USA Today:
the winner will get a splash in the paper sometime late next week.
Go for it, people! I know we can do this. Yes, the Clay Aiken fans will be out in droves and yes we know they, like Carrie Underwood, never lose. But are we going to let that stop us? NO!
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers; for he to-day that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother; be he ne’er so …
Oh, sorry … got a bit carried away.

Well I did my duty and it won’t let you spam the poll. So come on people. Lets get Bo some more exposure.

Yup, I boted. It felt good to rank everyone. Sorry, Carrie – Bo got #1 of course, and then there’s D!, Elliott, Ruben, Fantasia, Kelly, and … well, I ran out of spots.

My deed is done.

Hee. I ran out of spots, too. It was tough going, though. I had no trouble rattling off my first 6 but the last 4 were harder to figure.

Heh. I felt bad about that, but she totally would have been my #11 if they had let us choose a #11. And D! would have been #12

So this poll is not only to vote for your favorite(s), but also to not vote at all for the people you dislike, but who have a big fan base – kind of like squeezing them out of the running. Hmmm, interesting. Not that I would do that or anything…heh.
Go BO!

The Constantine fans seem to be quite upset that he isn’t on the poll although it really doesn’t seem like he fits their criteria.
My guess is that either Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood will win it.

Done my boting. Just as I hit the submit button for my very serious comment, I noticed that I called him Bo Bo instead of Bo Bice. I am such a doofus!
Anyway, I would vote for any and I do mean ANY AI contestant before I would vote for Daughtry.

I doubt very much if Bo will win this time because all his fans have too much else to focus on. Last time we were DRIVEN! I expect Clay to win just because his fans are a little nutty about this stuff.

I think there will be some interesting results if a lot of people vote for the idols they don’t think of as threats to their favorite. I predict some of the “safe” choices like Tamyra will end pretty high.
Reading the comments at USA Today is a hoot – some people are taking the contest way too seriously.

I’m quite sure you don’t have to vote for all ten. I voted for Bo as #1 (and did not vote for any others) and hit SUBMIT. My single-vote entry was accepted. I think voting for others would add weight and votes for them, therefore diluting Bo’s votes! I hope I’m not wrong about just voting for Bo without placing the other nine votes. I would not want Bo to be disqualified!
If you’re ambitious, I found a little work-around the one-vote limit. I was able to submit one vote for each browser I used (i.e., vote while in Internet Explorer, then vote through FireFox, then through Netscape, etc.). You can download different browsers for free. It’s kind of fun to try out different browsers! I put links to them on bb.com, or you can Google search for browser downloads.

I boted. Had a hard time after him.

Boted! After I boted for BO it was hard to choose who else to vote for.
Man, the Con fans are angry people. I wonder if that is a reflection on who they are fans of… hmmm… (-__- )\

Just boted at the library, home, work and laptop. Hope to see good results for Mr. Bice. Would love to see him in USA Today with a mention of the new CD.

BB.com has an announcement to vote for Bo, as does his MySpace. Yay! I hope lots of people support him. Publicity is publicity and the timing is perfect for the CD.
